When I Reflect

When I reflect upon my life
On my brightest and darkest days
The times accompanied with strife
Served me more than times of praise.
When I reflect upon my mind
And all the things that I have learned
It seems my growth is largely confined
To the moments my scars were earned.
When I reflect upon my soul
And the resolve my faith has shown
I see events which most take their toll
Are the reasons why I have grown.
When I reflect upon my health
The wear and tear of battles fought
Wisdom shows that my source of wealth
Is failing to achieve what I sought.
When I reflect upon my voyage
And its absolute worst cases
The angels whisper in warm voices
You’re strongest in the broken places.
